Saturday Session: AllStar and FreeSTAR

–
5 July 2025

Richard G4WKW will provide an introduction to both AllStar and FreeSTAR using both presentation slides and live radio demonstrations.

Here is a very brief introduction to the two systems:

AllStar is a system that connects Analogue AllStar nodes or enabled Analogue FM repeaters together via an Internet-based system called AllStarLink . You can normally access the system via an inexpensive 2m/70cm FM radio via a repeater such as GB3DQ or GB3CH or an AllStar node that you can build and use at home.

FreeSTAR is a multi-platform Amateur Radio network which consists of multiple technologies and modes. The network uses various bridging techniques to bridge all connections from various modes into to one core connection. We call this connection “ FreeSTAR ”. “Free” as in “Freedom to Connect” & experiment. “STAR” as in “STAR” networking style. The network can be accessed in many ways, both analogue and digital.

Tea, Coffee and biscuits are available.  Feel free to donate snacks :)

Location: The Marconi Centre, Poldhu Cove, Poldhu Road, Mullion, Cornwall, TR12 7JB.
